Lochaber Sports Council

Lochaber Sports Council exists to promote and develop sporting opportunities within the Lochaber District. It acts as a co-ordinating link between local sports clubs and the leisure providers at district, region and national levels.

The Executive Committee of the sports council are local people who are interested in Sport and most are members of clubs in the area. Affiliation to Lochaber Sports Council is open to any constituted sports club in Lochaber.

If you have any valid suggestions and points you would like to put forward in support of improving sport in Lochaber, the Committee would be pleased to hear from you. From time to time the Committee hopes to invite officials from local clubs to discuss their interests with the sports council.

Some of the benefits of affiliated membership can be summarised in this leaflet and an application form to join the sports council is attached.

The Sports Council operates a grant aid scheme which offers a limited form of financial assistance to clubs.

Introduction and Concept
The Lochaber Sports Council receives annual funding from The Highland Council to assist clubs and individuals in developing all aspects of their sport, and subsequently administers the sports grant aid scheme in consultation with The Highland Council.

The main aim of the scheme is to:
Increase and encourage the number of participants involved in sport
To improve the standard and performance at all levels.
To improve the standard of coaching and officiating.
To support and encourage talented performers from within the Lochaber boundary.
