Lochaber Yacht Club
Fort William's only sailing club was first established in 1954. Today
the club has an active membership enjoying sailing on Loch Linnhe, right
by the town centre. In the summer evenings, a stroll along the waterside
after dinner often provides a delightful sight of sail boats in the evening
sunshine.
The club offers membership to all residents of Lochaber and also has
a country membership for those living outside the area.
As an RYA teaching establishment, LYC provides experienced, enthusiastic
instructors for Level 1-4 RYA approved sailing courses.
The club has a very large fleet of Toppers and Lasers, with a mixed bag
of other dinghies including Bosuns and Wayfarers. There is an established
fleet of 8 Solings, which race on Monday evenings.
If you are interesting in learning to sail, the Club can arrange a free
come and try session, and welcomes anyone to the club on any of the club
evenings.
