Visit Kentallen and Appin
Kentallen lies only a few miles south of the Ballachulish bridge and
is a perfect place for a quiet, relaxing holiday. A small number of B & Bs and Guesthouses provide a friendly welcome too,
as you travel south or north on the Oban road.
Appin has great history to learn all about and was the inspiration for
Robert Lewis Stevenson's Kidnapped. Stalker Castle, ancestrial
home of the Stuarts of Appin, often provides the photographer with amazing
pictures
to take home. The Castle sits on a knoll in Loch Linnhe, only a few metres
from the shore. At high tide, the castle is secured by the waters of Loch
Linnhe. The view from the hill looking down onto the castle, stretches
far south to the isle of Raasay and the distant hills of Ardgour and Morvern.
The area of Appin is relatively short drive by car from Fort William and
easily explored in a morning or afternoon.
