Sailing in Fort William and Lochaber
The Lochaber area is a superb area for watersports and, in particular, sailing and cruising.
Fort William has its very own sailing centre in the shape of Lochaber Yacht Club, established in 1954 and the only Royal Yachting Association recognised teaching establishment in the area.
Out at Arisaig, on the Road to the Isles, a flegling sailing club is doing well by offering Learn to Sail courses to locals in the area with sailing instructor Graham Moss who runs his own outdoor activity business.
At Ballachulish, Glencoe Boat Club is another well established sailing club with an enthusiastic membership and lots of sailing events.
Andy Burton's Highland Activities runs sailing and canoeing "come and try" experiences on Loch Oich in the Great Glen.
All in all, sailing is well provided for and if you are interested in learning to sail, you can join a local club and take part in a Learn to Sail course every year.
